it's technically playable but you're better off not bothering. I purchased for nostalgia, but dear god the ads are egregious. between every level there's an ad that you have to skip (and wait 5-10 seconds) THREE TIMES before it finally goes away. You can't make an IAP to remove them until you beat the first 10ish levels and even then the game is still flooded with ads, like only giving you 3/5 lawnmowers then making you watch an ad for each missing one. Anti-player design at its finest.

After 4 months I started playing this game again. I've only been playing every other game, and for good reason. 1. They're removing lawn mowers in most, if not all of the levels. 2. The ads. My fist level in months Crazy Dave tells you something about ads. After the dialogue, a notification pops up saying want to buy an ad blocker, or something along those lines. This game used to be so fun, now EA drove this into the ground. If you want to play Plants vs Zombies, play the 2nd one.

I should've read the reviews because it seems like everyone is having the same issue. I paid for the ad-free version, but am still getting ads. I am very annoyed at this. This is one of my favorite games, please fix this very irritating issue!! update: it has been a little over 3 years since my review. there have been updates to the game, but the ad issue has not been fixed. please do not advertise ad-free version if paying for it does nothing.
